A high quality duvet, such as those produced here at Empress Quilts and Textiles, should last you many years. But when it comes to replacing duvets and disposing of the old ones, what can you do? Can duvets be recycled? is a question we often get asked. And unfortunately, recycling options are very limited for duvets. The only real option is with feather duvets, the feathers can be composted if you have a large compost pile or a composting facility in your area who may take them.
However, have you considered extending the life of your duvets and pillows by washing them? Many of our duvets and pillows are machine washable or dry cleanable. This can be an excellent option to remove dust, dirt and dust mite build up and it allows you to get more years of use out of your quality duvet.
